DandyLyon Whine Schedule Update

Greetings friends,

We just wanted to give you an update on our gig schedule.

First up we're playing next Friday at the New Way Bar in Ferndale with The Solar System and Helical Scan. This is DandyLyon Whine's first show at the New Way and we're excited to play this classic venue. Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/events/531169856923306/?fref=ts

For those of you a little closer to town we're playing Kelly's in Hamtramck the following Friday, march 22. The phenomenal lineup includes us, Phantom Cats, Rouge Satellites and our good friends Pupils. No cover, cheap drinks and good tunes. You can't ask for much more. Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/events/326534620793653/?fref=ts

In a month we are headlining a CDCC showcase at the Berkley Front with the debut performance from The Dirty Tongues! This project has formed out of the ashes of Dinosaur Monster. It picks up where they left off and takes the heaviest bits and makes them bigger and thicker. This is a show that will melt some faces!

We've been working hard to archive our performances for you. Most of the shows are available to listen to from our events page and there are many videos available on the Communist Day Care Center youtube page. Here is our latest show where we played at the Ferndale Public Library as part of their amazing First Stop Friday series. Skip to 16:57 to hear one of the newest songs we are working up for our new album.

Thanks - Hope to see you soon!

Year end round up!

Thank you for all of your support throughout the year. I know it seems cliche to say it, but we would not be here without you. I'd like to go in depth with all of the things we've done, but the fine people over at the Communist Day Care Center did a great year in review with a big focus on what we were doing so we're going to direct you over that way:

Thanks again and here's to hoping you have a safe and prosperous 2013!

The Day After Labor Day, Sept. 4th, 2012

Once again we find ourselves at the day after labor day, day when summer ends, the day we go back to work.

DandyLyon Whine has had an eventful year. Last November we were part of CDCC's Nigel Tufnel Day celebration and None More Red tribute album. In early 2012 we welcomed percussionist Justin Velic to the band and in February we released our 2nd full length album Coelacanth to rousing success. I Don't Want To Live Anymore has over 1,100 views on YouTube. We have had the most active summer of our career playing many gigs all to great crowds with phenomenal reception.

We have many great things planned out for this next year. First things first, we've been writing and we're going to debut a lot of new material in the upcoming months. Those of you that have been to the last handful of shows will have heard a few of these new tunes.

We are going to be posting a lot more archival material and from behind the scenes. If you check our events page you'll find a complete listing of our previous gigs and we are starting to archive set lists and show audio/video where applicable. Today we'll be posting two live shows, the webcast of most recent show at PJ's Lagerhouse, and the long awaited Coelacanth release show!

In the next few months we'll be posting "Live Versions" of songs. Many of our songs are very different live than on record. We are going to make high quality studio recordings and videos so you can access these versions any time. Eventually we'll be posting the rehearsal demos of the new material as well. And of course, another album. With any luck this one will take less than two years to put out.

Thank you so much for your continued support. We've had an incredibly successful year because of you. We appreciate every album purchase, download, every show you've gone to, every track listen, every facebook like, every time you've been walking down the street quietly singing "I Don't Want To Live Anymore," all of it. Without you, we are nothing. Thank you.

The years after Labor Day

I sat down today and listened to The Day After Labor Day for the first time in a very long time and I've come to a realization; I like it. I mean, I always meant to put out an album that I would like, and I certainly have always liked the songs that appear on the album, but as I listened to it today all the little flaws that used to scream 'this isn't good enough' at me all seemed to have melted into the character of the album.

I think that the release of Coelacanth has helped me to realize that I am actually an artist and that my art does stand on its own. In other words, I am not a one hit wonder. I am capable of creating good work and I am here to stay.

Thanks for listening,
-otto

Schizoid

The deluxe edition of this album says on it "This album is dedicated to all those that have inspired this music."

A lot of the songs on this album are inspired by real people and real events. Every time I play a song I think about the people and events that have inspired it.

Schizoid is no different, including that at the end of the day it is selfishly about me.

But at the same time this album is about self destruction in the hopes that something better can rise from the ashes.

Let's hope. I'm gonna try real hard.

Your Last Song

Not the last song on the album ...

Most of this song is the bridge to an older song of mine "The Object Of My Affection." The bridge of this song is the verse of the same song. Interesting how things change.

It's a fun pretty little exercise in rhyme and reason.

And we honkey tonk it up live. Only a few days until the release show where you'll get to hear it for yourself!
