The Day After Labor Day

Here we are again, the day after labor day. It's been two years since I finally got the guts to head into the basement to record and put out my first album. Since then I put a band together and played a bunch of shows. The label that started for real with that album has grown. Things are looking good all around. I just wanted to touch base and let you guys know what's going on.

I personally am having an extremely busy fall in my personal life and due to that the band is not actively booking. We won't turn down shows that come our way, but we're not going to seek them out. We certainly will be performing "All The Way Home" at the big CDCC Nigel Tufnel Day celebration at The Berkley Front on 11/11/11.

What we will be doing during this time is working on our long anticipated second album.

Coelacanth will be released on February 18th, 2012. That's a little less than six months from now. The preliminary recordings for the album are sounding pretty good. You've heard what "I Don't Want To Live Anymore" sounds like, and if you were lucky enough to get the  exclusive single you know what "If You Loved Me" sounds like, and if you've made it to a show in the last six months or so then you've most likely heard a lot of the album.

I am really excited about the album. The entire band will be performing on this album, not just me, and the musical interaction is great. I am truly blessed to be the weakest musician of the group. The sound is amazing. Upgrades in gear and improvement of recording techniques is giving this album a great sound and feel. Overall though what is really going to grab you is the tunes. These tunes are the best I have written.

So we look forward to having you all hear it. More info on where we'll be releasing it and how you'll be able to get a copy as details emerge.

Thank You,
Jeremy Otto

Update

I hadn't realized how long it has been since the last post. Here's a recap of what's been going on:

DandyLyon Whine now has a permanent bass player! Elliott Kleinfelder has been playing with us for the last couple of months and has really provided the anchor we've been missing. It's amazing what you can do when you don't have to worry about just getting by. Elliott's presence has truly allowed us to stretch and I am confident in saying we are stronger than we ever have been.

With the album a ways away but people asking feverishly about it we released the first single off of it "If You Loved Me" as a limited run of 12 copies. They are hand numbered and not available for download. They are not for sale on the website. The only place they you can get one is at a show. I am proud to say that we are down to one remaining. For those of you keeping track it is number 11 of 12, as someone purposely took number 12.

The upcoming album is to be named 'Coelacanth.' A Coelacanth is one of the oldest species on earth. It is a giant fish (about 5' long) that lives deep underwater mostly in the Indian Ocean. It has gone unchanged for approximately 360 million years. It is also a lobe finned fish, meaning that the fins of the fish have a skeletal system similar to human hands and other mammals. A descendant of the Coelacanth is believed to be the first animal to walk on land. It is ancient and unchanged but inherently tied to modern times. It is a dichotomy. How does one exist in a changing world when one cannot change? Look for the album most likely this winter.

Upcoming gigs include:
July 1, PJ's Lagerhouse with Sound And Fury, The Ashleys, and Extra Large Childe
July 10, Club Bart, that is if they're open again and honoring previously booked gigs, w/ DINOSAUR MONSTER
Aug 5, AXIS MUNDI PALOOZA at Sparklewood/North End Studios
Aug 27th, 2nd Annual CDCC Potluck Jamboree

I think that's all for now. I'll try to be better about this in the future.
